Ingredients:

  • 2 large pomegranates
  • Water
  • Ice cubes (optional)

Method:

  1. Score the outer skin of the pomegranates horizontally and gently pry them open. Be careful not to cut too deeply into the seeds.
  2. Submerge the scored pomegranates in a large bowl of water and gently pull the seeds apart underwater. This helps prevent the juice from splattering and staining.
  3. Once all the seeds are removed, discard any white membrane that may have come loose.
  4. Place the pomegranate seeds in a blender or food processor.
  5. Pulse the seeds a few times to break them apart and release the juice. Avoid over-blending to prevent the seeds from breaking down and making the juice bitter.
  6. Strain the blended mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean bowl. Press down on the pulp to extract as much juice as possible.
  7. Discard the leftover pulp and seeds.
  8. If desired, add ice cubes to the juice to chill it before serving.
  9. Pour the fresh pomegranate juice into glasses and serve immediately.

Notes:
To make the juicing process easier, you can also use a handheld citrus juicer or a dedicated pomegranate juicer. Additionally, you can store any leftover juice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
